When I first started gardening, I had no idea it would take me on a spiritual journey. I just wanted to beautify my weed-riddled front yard and start a healthy hobby. I never imagined gardening would lead to a heart awakening or change my entire perception of how the world works. I didn’t know it would lead to finding new friends and a spiritual community: a sangha.
Gardening woke my heart and showed me through direct experience that we are all one and that the universe speaks to us constantly if we just tune in and listen. We have more in common with plants than we think.
Blessed is the Child of Light
The Essene Gospel of Peace
Who doth build on earth
The Kingdom of Heaven,
For he shall dwell in both worlds.
The world needs gardeners now more than ever. As society continues its digital transition and screens become a substitute for connecting with people and nature in person, we need to get out and get our hands in the dirt.
In this blog, I’ll explore transformation through gardening and connecting with the natural world. We’ll look at how gardening heals division, cultivates peace and helps us connect with people face-to-face. Along the way, we’ll look at Gnosticism, the Essenes, kundalini, Buddhism, and the many lessons the garden teaches us.
